Compact Cordless Lithium Ion Drill Test ---- 3 of 3 Hilti SFC-18 Compact 1.6Ah Drill

Completed 31 holes through a 2X4 using a 1-1/2" self feed bit. Compared to 16 with the DeWalt and 15 with the Makita. The DeWalt felt more powerful than the Makita but underpowered compared to the Hilti. The Hilti drilled the holes much faster with little to no strain on the motor. The Battery takes 15 minutes to charge (same as the Makita) compared to 30 minutes for the DeWalt. The Hilti felt the strongest out of the 3 tools do to the counter-torque I could feel and the ease of drilling. Even though it wasn't needed in this test the motor protection is very easy to use and deal with. Lift your finger off of the trigger and press it again and you are off back to work. The Hilti guy in the Home Depot (although sometimes a bit over zealous) told me that the tool also had free batteries and repair for 2 years. He said just bring it back to him or other home depots. No worries. The tool also didn't cost me an arm and a leg (like other Hilti tools) It think it was less that $280 or something. Finally a tool that doesn't kill your wallet yet still kicks butt.
